Ningyu (Maggie) Quan, Graduate Student, MSc Soil Science

I completed my undergraduate degree at China Agricultural University. During my undergraduate, I gained experience in using closed chambers-gas chromatography methodology to measure greenhouse gas emissions under different irrigation treatments in North China Plain. I also worked as a research assistant in Sustainable Land Ecosystems research lab in 2017 summer at University of Alberta. There I conducted research regarding quantifying the greenness of wheat canopies and estimating temporal changes in crop N use efficiency across different N management using Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) measurements. Currently I’m a MSc student in Soil Science supervised by Dr. Andy Black. My research focuses on measuring greenhouse gas emissions from potato and pea crops in the Lower Fraser valley by using the eddy-covariance technique.
